The Wimmera Southern Mallee Community Connections Program provides support for young people across the Wimmera and Southern Mallee to enable students to participate in junior sports programs and community and cultural activities. The program is a successful partnership convened by the WSMLLEN and includes the region’s primary and secondary schools, community groups and local sporting clubs.
More than 580 young people have participated in junior sports programs since the inception of the program. The program expanded in 2019 to include connection to community and cultural groups. Participants include Koorie children, children with a disability and children from migrant families. The program increases physical activity, promotes social inclusiveness and increases the participants’ connections with positive role models and the community.
Sponsorship is available for students who, due to financial restraints, would not otherwise be able to participate in sports, community or cultural programs. The program is funded and coordinated by Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN.
We recognise the contribution of the previous sponsor, Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly.
