NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSES & COMMUNITY CENTRES Neighbourhood houses are local organisations that provide social, educational and recreational activities for their communities in a welcoming supportive environment. Neighbourhood Houses are managed by volunteer committees and paid staff. They offer many opportunities for volunteer participation in all aspects of the house activities and management. Good quality affordable childcare and playgroups are offered at most houses. Registered Training Organisations such as Wimmera HUB deliver some accredited courses of study through Neighbourhood Houses in the Wimmera region. Neighbourhood Houses provide a range of non-accredited and recreational short courses. Activities are generally run at low or no cost to participants.
