Wimmera UnitingCare plays a vital role in supporting and strengthening the lives of many people in the Wimmera Region.

As members of the UnitingCare network of the Uniting Church in Australia, we are the fourth largest UnitingCare community service provider in Victoria. We employ more than 370 staff and are supported by over 300 volunteers. We help more than 8000 people every year through our extensive range of programs.

Wimmera UnitingCare provides confidential services across the municipalities of Hindmarsh, Horsham Rural City, Northern Grampians, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack, with some services also provided in Ararat Rural City and the Buloke Shire.

Services provided by Wimmera Uniting Care include:

School Focused Youth Service

The School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) works with schools, government and community organisations to look at ways in addressing self esteem, resilience and better outcomes for young people aged 10-18 years. SFYS program has brokerage funding for the establishment of projects aimed at addressing identified needs in the Wimmera.

Youth and Family Reconciliation

A Youth Family Reconciliation worker facilitates the mediation process which allows all participants to tell their story and be heard by one another without being interrupted. It is for young people aged 15-25 and their families. Workers assist families work through the issues which are putting the young person at risk of homelessness, they help families negotiate solutions that all parties can manage with.

Youth Outreach

The Youth Outreach service supports young people aged 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Workers assist young people with finding suitable accommodation; link them into education, employment and training, help them develop living and life skills with the main aim of assisting young people to become independent and have established supports and connections within their local community.

NILS No Interest Loan Scheme

NILS provides small loans for essential household, medical and educational items to assist people on low and limited incomes. Loans are provided up to $1500 with no Interest or fees.
