Wimmera Hub
Wimmera HUB provides a wide range of training programs within the Wimmera community that are relevant to the community services sector and local industries. Wimmera HUB programs are diverse and include workforce development, industry training, nationally accredited certificates and lifestyle programs. Training is offered at flexible times (days, evenings and weekends) in workshops, practical placements and via e-learning. Enrolments are accepted throughout the year. HUB has developed strong partnerships with other training providers such as Australian Testing Services, Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Cooperative and the University of Ballarat. Wimmera HUB 03 5381 6701 Mandy Kirsopp Vet In Schools Vocational Education and Training in Schools are programs undertaken by school students as part of the senior secondary certificate that provide credit towards a nationally recognised VET qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework. The training that students receive reflects specific industry competency standards and is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation or a school in partnership with a Registered Training Organisation. A key success of VET in Schools is the integration of vocational options within the traditionally academic studies at the senior secondary school level. Wimmera Hub & Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Cooperative The Deadly Ute Project is aimed at Koorie boys and girls aged 14 to 19, who may or may not be engaged with school. The project uses practical tasks in modifying and decorating a ute to teach Koori youth a wide range of skills and provide opportunities they may otherwise not have access to. Traditional artwork to paint the ute is used as part of the Visual Arts, Craft and Design Units, where participants are assisted by an experienced Koorie artist.
